'Did you know him? You would
have loved him. This man
called 'Speck'. A man with
the heart of a lion and the
hands of a lamb. One that
was simply unshakeable by
life and able to stay the
course. He refused to
complain about himself or
others. He just went about
his business. The business
of loving someone (and the
same someone) for some sixty
years. He loved her long and
strong, literally to the
ends of the earth. The
business of taking care of
his 'Dot' when she was
riddled with dementia. The
business of providing for
his family by any means
necessary. It did not matter
what the physical conditions
of a job were, or what it
exacted from him as long as
it did it's job, he did his.
The business of showing his
five children that they
could always count on him
for anything. Whatever he
could do, he did do and he
did it with such humility
that it could be a little
unsettling. I'm sure every
child thinks their Dad is
the greatest, strongest,
most competent, but Dad you
really shined. You were
quite simply, 'The Best'.
Just better, better than all
the rest and I don't think
my heart will ever feel the
same. Love Barry, Kathie,
Morris, Eddie and Jo.'
